Risk Manager

As the Risk Manager at Cornell University, I support the Director of Risk Management in fostering a culture of risk awareness across the institution. My role involves providing education, training, and strategic guidance to enhance the university's overall approach to risk management. With extensive experience spanning various facets of the risk management and insurance industry, I’ve worked across the spectrum—from the insurance company side as an underwriter, to the insurance brokerage side in risk management and consulting, and since 2005, on the insured side specializing in operational risk management.

Having gained firsthand experience on all sides of the risk management process, I particularly value my role on the insured side. It offers a comprehensive view of risk, where insurance is only one tool within the broader spectrum of risk management strategies. I have a proven track record in negotiating insurance terms, managing self-insurance portfolios, and developing insurance requirements for diverse university departments and student organizations.

My professional background includes positions at Higher education and private few companies in the private sector, where I specialized in contract review, insurance policy management, claims coordination, and corporate insurance programs. I hold an MBA from SUNY Binghamton and an Associate in Risk Management (ARM) certification. With a strong analytical approach to risk mitigation and compliance, I am committed to developing effective risk management strategies that protect both Cornell’s people and assets.
